From Humble Beginnings in Beverley to a Thriving National Business
Westwood Plumbing & Heating Ltd. was founded in February 2016 by Calum Bunn, who began operating as a sole trader with a clear vision—to provide expert plumbing and heating services with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and customer care. The business quickly gathered traction through hard work and dedication and became synonymous with outstanding quality of work and a passion for customer satisfaction. This was followed swiftly by gaining a large market share within the local region. and securing its first commercial contracts. As demand grew, so did the company’s ambitions, and by June 2017, Westwood transitioned to a limited company, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
That same year, Westwood expanded, welcoming its first full-time staff member and two first-year apprentices to the team. With growth came the need for a dedicated workspace, leading to the company’s first office location, a picturesque green space located within a working farm in Beverley. This move provided a solid foundation for continued success and plenty of operating space to expand its operations and capacity to provide a wider range of services, specifically enabling Team Westwood to take on larger projects in the private sector while staying true to its roots as a customer-focused, community-driven business.
The Journey to Success
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Westwood’s commitment to service never wavered. While much of the world slowed down, Team Westwood worked tirelessly, providing essential support to the NHS and COVID-19 testing facilities. This period demonstrated not only the resilience of the company and its people but also the dedication to serving those in need the most.
As the company continued to expand, October 2020 marked another milestone with a move to a new office at 48 North Bar Within, Beverley. This relocation allowed for better accommodation of the growing workforce and improved operational efficiency. By this time, the team had grown to 15 full-time members, including the highly skilled engineers and dedicated apprentices, with staffing levels eventually reaching 28 as more apprentices completed their training and became fully qualified.
In March 2023, further expansion was needed to keep up with the company’s rapid growth. Another premises move beckoned once again— although this time, a stone through from the current location, just across the road and still within the historic North Bar Within area of Beverley – to a larger office space. This ensured the company had the room and resources to continue delivering top-quality plumbing and heating solutions for both domestic and commercial clients from a purposeful position now and in the future.
From a one-man operation to a thriving business with a team of dedicated professionals, Westwood Plumbing & Heating Ltd. has come a long way. The journey is a testament to hard work, expertise, and a relentless commitment to its customers. Looking to the future, the Westwood Team remain focused on delivering exceptional service, investing in the next generation of tradespeople, and continuing to grow while staying true to our values.
