The Project - Salix 3C Heating Installation

This project is supported by Salix funding, a UK-government-backed scheme designed to help public sector bodies reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency.

The aim of the project is the upgrade and installation of heating systems and associated electrics, with the objectives of reducing emissions, improving efficiency, lowering operating costs, and enhancing thermal comfort. The work will take place in the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), which includes study spaces, computing facilities, library services, high-occupancy zones, and areas with high heat demand at certain times.

We were delighted with the work carried out by Westwood Heating & Plumbing on the Salix 3C heating installation project in our LRC building. From the outset, their team demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and a clear understanding of the specific requirements of our campus. The installation of the new heating system was deliveredon time and to a very high standard, with minimal disruption to staff and students.

Scope of Work

  • Removal of old or inefficient boilers/heating plant
  • Installation of modern, high-efficiency boilers or possibly low-carbon alternatives (Heat pumps in this case)
  • Upgrading of heating distribution: pipework, radiators, controls
  • Integration with electrical upgrades
  • Insulation improvements to reduce heat loss

The quality of workmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to ensuring an energy-efficient, reliable system have been outstanding. Our LRC building nowbenefits from a much-improved heating system, which supports our sustainabilitygoals and provides a more comfortable environment for everyone who uses the space. We would not hesitate to recommend Westwood Heating & Plumbing for future projects.
