Westwood Plumbing Stars on DIY SOS, Series 34, Gladiators Special in Beverley

Yorkshire renovation champions deliver plumbing expertise on national TV

Westwood Plumbing & Heating Ltd., a cornerstone of the Beverley community, took centre stage on Tuesday 30th December 2025 for BBC One’s beloved program, DIY SOS. The company played a pivotal role in a deeply moving renovation project at the Cherry Tree Community Centre that unfolded right in their hometown of Beverley, contributing to the Series 34 episode – Gladiators Special of the BBC’s DIY SOS presented by Nick Knowles which is known for its ambitious community transformations.

The involvement went beyond mere service provision. Westwood’s team of skilled engineers brought not only their professional expertise in plumbing and heating but also an immense sense of local pride and community spirit to the undertaking. They poured their time, talent, and dedication into the Cherry Tree Community Centre project, working alongside volunteers and other tradespeople to breathe new life into a local youth hub. This community hub, a vital resource for young people in Beverley, was in dire need of refurbishment, and the BBC’s DIY SOS team, with Westwood’s crucial contribution, stepped in to make it a reality. The transformation was not just about bricks and mortar; it was about creating a safe, welcoming, and inspiring space where young people could thrive, and the team were honoured to be an integral part of it.

Bringing Beverley together

The high-profile ‘Gladiators Special’ episode featuring stars Jodie Ounsley, Tom Wilson, Lystus Ebosele and Jamie Christian-Johal – aka Fury, Hammer, Cyclone and Giant, documented how the dedicated Westwood team, including Calum Bunn (Founder & Managing Director), Cheryl Teal, Lewis, and Sam, worked alongside BBC presenters and local volunteers to breathe new life into the Cherry Tree Community Centre at Mud Hills Playpark, Burden Road. The project reached completion in August 2025, only for a delay to stall the grand opening, and airing of the broadcast on the BBC earning praise for its transformational impact.
